Local stdio
Fetch
Reference MCP server that fetches a URL and returns markdown. It refuses private addresses unless you turn that guard off.
Install is uvx mcp-server-fetch (or pip install mcp-server-fetch). It is a Python server from the reference collection, not an npm package.
By default it refuses private, loopback, link-local, and other non-public addresses, including cloud metadata endpoints such as 169.254.169.254, and it checks each redirect hop. --allow-private-ips turns that guard off. Do not set it unless you intend the model to reach your internal network. Fetched pages are untrusted content.

"mcpServers": {
"fetch": {
"command": "uvx",
"args": ["mcp-server-fetch"]
}
}
}Client config shape varies. Cursor and Claude Desktop use mcpServers. VS Code often uses servers. The values above are the part that matters.
